Tim's Story
After hiding my addiction to porn for 35 years I was arrested. I hired an attorney and went to court, the saddest and scariest day of my life.
Only by God’s grace was I given probation. The next day I discovered an organization called Sexaholics Anonymous. Developed in the early eighties, their definition of sobriety is, “no sex with self or another other than a spouse of the opposite sex.” For two years I battled with the addiction, but long-term sobriety evaded my grasp. Then two events changed my life. The first was realizing ‘Absolute Surrender’ to God had to be Absolute. The second was discovering Covenant Eyes and finding a small band of brothers that were willing to commit to:
1. Signing up for Covenant Eyes
2. Having each other’s backs
3. Meeting weekly to share our success and failures
Without those men and the accountability that Covenant Eyes provided, I could not imagine celebrating 20 years of sobriety.
